If there's an overarching theme for 2019, it's loss, and it sucks. I look around and so many people around me have lost friends, loved ones, and people close to them. I leaned on David Berman's brilliant work to get me through my own rough patch only for him to commit suicide. Fuck's sake, we even lost Lil' Bub! It. Just. Fucking. Sucks. All my love to anyone who's lost someone close to them lately.
lyrics
Rainy December, the trees are so bare
Used to feel down, now you just don't care
Driving to nowhere just to be alone
Don't feel like music and you turned off your phone
Drops hit your windshield like your eyes when they mist
Like when she told you, "We're just not a fit"
And in the silence you wonder what she's holding back
A scathing assessment of all that you lack
And you keep driving
Turn to your friends but they just start to cry
Their loved ones checked out, done being alive
This language robs you of words you can say
Except, "That's so messed up, but I love you anyway"
And you keep driving
Mileage adds up like the people you miss
Lost in the ether, escaped in the mist
The silence echoes, how much can you take?
Grasping for meaning just so you don't break
How longer will your close ones be around
Living your best life while you're all still down
Tonight's a party, having a blast
But now you're driving, replaying the past
